Julie’s has been a second home for Perth’s cats and dogs since 1988. Get to know the family who make that happen, and the story behind how we started.
Julie started Julie’s Kennels in 1988 after struggling to find boarding she trusted for her own animals. Drawing on her background in veterinary nursing and grooming, she set out to build something better: a safe, modern, genuinely caring place just 15 minutes from Perth Airport.
Nearly four decades on, it’s still run by the same family, to the same standard she set on day one. Alongside them is a team of wonderful people who share that care, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Julie established Julie’s Kennels in 1988. After some sad experiences boarding her own animals, she believed the facilities and level of care for animals in boarding needed to be improved.
With a good deal of forethought and planning, together with her background in veterinary nursing and professional dog grooming, she built our centrally located, modern, safe and affordable boarding kennels and cattery.
Julies Boarding Kennels are conveniently located within Perth’s northern suburbs in Malaga, just 15mins from Perth’s Airport.
As a family run business, Julie has the pleasure of working with her daughter Lexy, whom many of you will know. Lexy has been our dedicated Kennel Manager since 1997. She takes a personal interest in all our boarders and will honestly share her experience in looking after your pooch, especially if your pet is a first-time visitor.
Lexy also oversees and trains our attendants to ensure that our team can collectively offer the highest standard of care. She is also a Professional Pet Groomer, and can offer you the best coat care in the business!
In 2013, Julie’s eldest son Jon re-joined our team after a productive career in IT. Jon has used his training to initiate some wonderful improvements in our administration, engineering a complete overhaul of our phone and computer systems, delivering better email and phone responses and server facilities.
He has also helped define our HR department. With Jon on board, our team has never been stronger to serve you in the care of your treasured pets, starting from that very first phone call or email. And now our greatest achievement, our new website and automated bookings system, just to try to make things easier for you.
We were so pleased to find Julies Boarding after our darling cat was so traumatised after staying at another cattery. She has been going to Julies for close to 5 years, with her most recent stay being the longest. After every stay she returns home happy and relaxed.
